Angelica Appelman Takes the Long Way Home on New Single "By Heart"

TORONTO, CANADA — October 16, 2026 — The country singer and songwriter turns small town familiarity into a love song about wanting to know someone completely. Out now on all streaming platforms.

Angelica Appelman releases her new single "By Heart" today, a warm, hook driven contemporary country track about the moment a new romance stops feeling casual and starts feeling real.

The song opens on familiar ground. Angelica knows every backroad, every stop light and every Top 40 chorus by memory, from Shania to Mariah. Then she meets someone she doesn't know yet, and suddenly the shortcut home isn't the point. "Boy let's take the long way home," she sings, setting up a chorus built on one simple wish: to know this person as well as she knows everything else in her world.

Where a lot of love songs stop at attraction, "By Heart" leans into curiosity. Angelica wants the why, the where, the when and the how. She wants to meet his mama, see his hometown and learn what he prays for. It is a song about patience and paying attention, about taking the time to learn someone properly.

Co-written by Angelica with Rich Cloke and Elias James, and produced by Adam Newcomb, "By Heart" pairs an easy, front porch sing along feel with a polished radio ready production. At just under three minutes, it is built for playlists, road trips and repeat listens.

"I've always been the girl who knows every word to every song on the radio. 'By Heart' is about meeting someone and wanting to learn them that same way. Not just the good parts, but the whole story. It's about slowing down and taking the long way home with somebody, because they're worth the time." Angelica Appelman
